Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins in their book “Nicolae” Book Three in the Left Behind series published by Tyndale House Publishers gives us the rise of the antichrist.

“Nicolae” depicts the events in the Bible book of Revelation Chapter 6, verses 12-14, where the sixth seal is opened, “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood-red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.  The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.”  It is time for the rise of the antichrist.  Now all antichrist means is Opposed (anti) to the Messiah (Christ)It is a title and in this book it belongs to Nicolae Carpathia.  Carpathia continues to consolidate his power, unifying political states (“Global Community”), media (“Global Community Network,” “Global Weekly”), and religions (“Enigma Babylon One World Faith”) under a Nicolae-appointed supreme pontiff. Nicolae himself is grand potentate of the global community.

The Tribulation Force, Captain Rayford Steele, his daughter, Chloe and Buck Williams not only must deal with the knowledge of who Carpathia is and spread the truth about him but they also must deal with the death and destruction that the opening of the sixth seal brings.

Dr. LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins provide a fictional background for the real events that the final book of The Bible, Revelation, speak about:  the end times.  The Biblical accuracy in“Nicolae” is flawless and the story is a page turning thriller.  There are wonderful themes:  salvation, faith in what you cannot see and who is in charge despite appearances to the contrary.  I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down.  Mr. Jenkins is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as he tightens the suspense.  I am looking forward to book four in this series.

Bible Commentary: “Independence Day”

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

For the benefit of our international readers today we celebrate Independence Day in the United States.  Independence Day is the day when we remember the men of the second Constitutional Congress who created and signed the Declaration of Independence and gave birth to a new country.

In 1776 The United States were only 13 colonies of Great Britain. King George was in a number of wars at that time and as a means of financing those wars he passed heavy taxation on the Colonies. Americans have always been a feisty bunch and didn’t like the law and tried to get it repealed but to no avail. John Adams, from Massachusetts, stood up and declared that the Colonies must be free from the laws of Great Britain.  Benjamin Franklin, of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia agreed with him and together they drafted the Declaration of Independence. This was treason and disloyalty to the crown and punishable by death. Franklin told the members of Congress if we do not hang together we shall surely hang separately.”   Independence from the motherland was unheard of then what they were doing was creating a precedent that other countries followed later. These men of the Second Constitutional Congress set us free from the laws of Great Britain and their monarchy and gave us liberty in this great land of ours, liberty that men have been willing to die for all these many years.

In the same manner over 2000 years ago The Lord Jesus began His ministry by reading from the Prophet Isaiah, “The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:  “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach
good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down” (Luke 4:17-20 NIV).  Don’t miss this, He rolled back up the scroll and sat down! You sit down when you have finished the work and Jesus rolled up the scroll and sat down. He had proclaimed it and it was so. We have been given our freedom and our liberty and we have it all in Jesus. He has given us life and that much more abundantly, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10 NIV).

On this Liberty Day, if you would like to share some testimony of how Jesus has set you free we would be glad to celebrate in your experience.  We will not share any messages we receive unless given permission. We only provide an opportunity to testify of the greatness of Jesus in our lives.

Child of God – Never forget that by the death of Jesus you have been set free from the law of sin and death and have been granted eternal life in heaven if you have accepted Jesus as your own. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through
Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2 NIV).

Our prayer:
Lord, thank you for the many times that you have given me freedom from spiritual strongholds in my life. Where before I was being held captive of old patterns or ways of life, now I’m free to follow you and serve you as you want. Only you can give me real freedom. Thank you for a new life. Amen.

If you want to have a personal relationship with Jesus as your Lord and Savior pray: “Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that out of love for me you willingly sacrificed your life so that I may live. I repent of all my sins and open my heart to you as my Lord and Savior. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer for the first time or if you have any questions please contact us. We would love to hear from you.
