Catherine Campbell in her new book, “God Knows Your Name”  published by Monarch Books lets us know that In a World of Rejection, He Accepts You .

From the back cover:   God loves us, just as we are.  This book encourages us to embrace the truth of a personal God, the God who knows our name.

From the loveless Hagar of the Bible to the abused Donna of Dublin; from the hopeless leper of Mark’s Gospel to the outcast Dalit of Hyderabad:  each chapter introduces us to individuals accepted by a God who intervenes on their behalf.  These are the stories of rejection and acceptance from the Bible and today–true, carefully researched, and told with remarkable power.

You move to a new city, your child starts school, you start a new job.  What do these all have in common?  In each place, at the beginning, it feels as though you are a nameless face who knows no one and no one knows you.  It is a brutal feeling when you are referred to as the new kid or the new guy-no name, no identity.  Perhaps you even felt that way in church, maybe you even feel that way now.  Take heart, this seems to be a common problem to mankind.  We seem to get lost in the shuffle and are forgotten.  In “God Knows Your Name” Catherine Campbell gives us stories from the Bible and modern day that show individuals who felt nameless and forgotten.  Then events transpired that let that individual know that not only were they not forgotten God knew who they were and used them for His purpose.  It is a wonderful feeling to know that we are not nameless and alone.  After all look what God has said, “for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” (Exodus 33:17b).   I found this to be a highly encouraging read that I am sure I will return to when I feel burned out, neglected or forgotten.  This book is certainly a pick-me-up when I am down.  It is also a great book to give as a gift to others who need this encouragement.  I recommend this book highly.

  1. Thank you Vic for both reading and reviewing my book ‘God Knows Your Name’. I am so glad that you found it encouraging. That was certainly the case for me as I researched the biblical stories and interviewed others. How wonderful to know that the God of the Bible is still touching lives today. Bless you, Catherine
