Suzanne Woods Fisher in her new book, “
The Haven” Book Two in the Stoney Ridge Seasons series published by Revell takes us to the Amish Community of Lancaster County.
From the back cover: Spring brings new life, young love, and second chances to Stoney Ridge.
On a warm spring day, Sadie Lapp returns home to her quiet, unassertive life in Stoney Ridge after spending the winter in Ohio.
Gideon Smucker, an awkward schoolteacher, has been in love with Sadie since childhood and eagerly awaits her return. But does Sadie feel the same about him?
Will Stoltz, a charming and impetuous college student, has been banished for a semester and sent to babysit endangered peregrine falcons nesting at the Lapp farm. He’d rather be anywhere else . . . until he befriends Sadie.
As the hopes and ambitions of these three young people converge, life in Stoney Ridge may never be the same.
Suzanne Woods Fisher writes an interesting story that moves along at a remarkably brisk pace. “The Haven” is full of interesting characters that keep us involved in the story and this time the focus is on Sadie Lapp. The title of this book is “The Haven” and that is what this story is all about. Seems that Windmill Farm is the new home for endangered birds including a pair of peregrine Falcons that are nesting. Then there is the abandoned baby that Sadie discovered that she has taken home to the Farm. Will Stolz is staying at the Farm assigned to protect the Falcons and discovers the answers to certain needs in his life. Even Sadie, who is painfully shy, doesn’t like strangers and only wants to stay around the Farm. Ms. Fisher has a lot of characters to work with and she provides an excellent story for them to grow in. On top of everything there is a love story between Sadie, Will and Gideon, Sadie’s childhood sweetheart. “The Haven” is a good read and a powerful story of healing of emotions and secrets. I liked this book and recommend it to your reading list.
