I had the privilege of interviewing Davis Bunn, on our radio show “Kingdom Highlights” for his new book, “Lion of Babylon” Book One in Marc Royce series published by Bethany House.

From the back cover:  Marc Royce worked for the State Department on a variety of clandestine assignments — that is, until personal issues led to his dismissal.

When Alex Baird goes missing in war-torn Baghdad, State comes calling again.  Alex is an intelligence agent – and a close friend of Royce.  Three others have also dropped out of sight — a nurse, an aid worker, a wealthy young Iraqi.  Are these cases linked?  Rumours circulate about a kidnapping conspiracy, yet both American and local officials refuse to pursue it.

Blocked at every turn, Royce eventually unearths a trail of secret encounters between sworn enemies.  What he discovers could transform the course of rivalry and reconciliation between the Mideast.  As the human and political drama escalates, can one man summon the courage to make a difference?

Marc Royce hits the ground running in “Lion of Babylon”.  Get ready for an exciting thrill ride as this book is a thriller, which simply means that everyone’s lives are in danger from practically page one.  Marc Royce is sent to the Middle East to find some missing Americans and if there is any conspiracy behind their disappearances.  While there he meets Sameh el-Jacobi, who is also hunting for missing Iraqis.  Together these two men encounter villains, treachery and life-threatening situations that will keep you flipping the pages as fast as you can read.   The theme is the value of human life as, it seems, that only a handful value individuals enough to spend their time and resources to go looking for them once they have gone missing.  The lead characters are terrific and we root for them as we live through their various heart-throbbing encounters.  Davis Bunn does  a truly remarkable job in this book while exciting us with this story that everyone will enjoy.
