Tony Dungy in his new book “The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge” published by Tyndale House Publishers gives us a daily devotional based on his Uncommon Life book.

From the back cover:  This year, strengthen the core of your life and faith like never before.

Beloved super bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy is known for his uncommon character-as a coach, a dad and a mentor.  Yet it didn’t happen overnight.  He learned that the path to significance and ultimate success starts with a challenge that we can all take:  to discover what God has in store for you by spending time with Him every day.

In The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge, Tony Dungy shares 365 Scripture readings and reflections on how to live an “uncommon life” of integrity, honor your family and friends, create a life of real impact and connect with God in a deep way.

If you’re truly uncommon, then you’re dedicated to being more than what the world is calling you to be.  You’re ready to develop the beliefs, values, integrity and faithfulness that lead to true victory in life.  So step up to the challenge to spend time with God-and dare to be uncommon every day.

Why do we need a new daily devotional?  One:  In the morning to help focus us on God and His plans for us rather than our plans for the day.  Two:  In the afternoon to help re-energize us when the activities of the day have drained us of our energy.  Three:  In the evening when we are weary from the world’s battering and we need rest and peace in God.  Tony Dungy has given us this new devotional to help us through our days and give us a challenge to step up to be the men and women God has called us to be.  Every day there is a verse and some insight that the Coach shares with us and then it ends with an Uncommon Key.  There are seven focuses, one for each day of the week:  Core, Family Friends, Potential, Mission, Influence and Faith.  I think we all need this book to read, meditate upon sometimes over and over again.  It will make us better the more we do it.
