Suzanne Hadley Gosselin in her new book , “Expectant Parents book coverExpectant Parents” published by Focus on the Family Publishing gives us Preparing Together for the Journey of Parenthood.

From the back cover:  Entering into parenthood is not the end . . .
It’s only the beginning,
and it is so worth it.

Hormones, weight gain, cravings—oh my! In Expectant Parents, Suzanne Hadley Gosselin creates a supportive guide and companion for couples on their pregnancy journey. Packed with stories and advice from real-life parents who have been there, along with information from numerous experts, this book offers help and encouragement for every step of the pregnancy process and beyond, covering important topics such as:

  • Making your marriage a priority
  • Dealing with pregnancy fears
  • Finding community
  • Building a foundation of faith
  • Planning post-baby career decisions and more

Expectant Parents includes thought-provoking questions and conversation starters in every chapter to help soon-to-be parents write their own “manual” for parenting. You’ll come away feeling equipped and ready to dive into the adventure of parenthood—along with knowing what to pack in your hospital bag!

There was once what we called the Extended Family. Both Grandparents used to live nearby or in the house with you. Certainly both sets of parents were close by as well. So when the newlyweds found out there would soon be three the grandparents and parents were there to provide support and give the wisdom of their experiences. Then what happened the family broke up as the various parties moved to different parts of the country. That meant that there was no one there to offer the advice, counsel and wisdom which left the couple to their own devices. Ms. Gosselin has filled in that gap with her book. I feel it does what the grandparent/parent support structure used to do. It provides a lot of the wisdom, experiences and counsel that the expectant couple really need. If you or someone you know is expecting then you need to get this book for you or for them.

Jon Land in his new book, “Strong Darkness book coverStrong Darkness” Book Six in the Caitlin Strong series published by Forge Books gives us a new adventure with Texas Ranger Caitlin Strong.

From the back cover:  1883: Texas Ranger William Ray Strong teams up with Judge Roy Bean to track down the Old West’s first serial killer, who’s stitching a trail of death along the railroad lines slicing their way through Texas.

The Present: Texas Ranger Caitlin Strong finds herself pursuing another serial killer whose methods are eerily similar to the one pursued by her great-grandfather almost a century-and-a-half before.

But that’s just the beginning of her problems. The son of her boyfriend is nearly beaten to death at Brown University. The investigation leads back to Texas and to the Chinese high-tech company awarded the contract to build the US’s 5G network. Li Zhen, the company’s founder, counts that as the greatest achievement of his career, but it hides his true motivationsnothing less than China’s total domination of the United States.

His plan is backed by elements of the Chinese underworld. Up against an army at Li’s disposal, Caitlin blazes a violent trail across country and continent in search of secrets hidden in the past, but it’s a secret from the present that holds the key. Darkness is coming, and only Caitlin Strong can find the light before it’s too late.

Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of the adventures of Texas Ranger Caitlin Strong.  Not only is she is a modern-day Texas Ranger but she has strong (sorry no pun intended) to her great-grandfather who also was a Texas Ranger so together this series is exciting.  “Strong Darkness” is one huge action-packed thriller from page one.  There is a serial killer that seems to be copying the serial killer that Caitlin’s Great-Grandfather tracked. And there is this international human trafficking network that preys on children and also a Chinese high-tech company that develops a 5G network to gain access to America’s greatest technological secrets. No need to drink coffee this is pure excitement and more than enough to keep you awake.  Mr. Land obviously likes to tell a good story, and this one is as good as it gets.  You will not be disappointed with “Strong Darkness”.  It is a roaring adventure from start to finish.

Sophia A. Nelson in her new book, “The Woman Code book coverThe Woman Code” published by Revell gives us 20 Powerful Keys to Unlock Your Life.

From the Back Cover:  Your key to unlocking a more fulfilling life

Every woman lives by a code, whether she realizes it or not. It informs how she treats others and herself, how much she expects of herself, and how far she is willing to go in order to find success. But is the code we’re living by truly helping us create the lives of purpose and fulfillment we desire? Or are we sacrificing the deeper things for mere achievement?

In this inspiring book, Sophia A. Nelson calls women to live out a powerful life code that will lead them to purposeful and successful lives. With the wisdom that comes from experience, Nelson reveals to women

· the true meaning of “having it all”
· how to take better care of their minds, bodies, and souls
· how to achieve professional excellence without compromising their values
· how to find lasting love and purpose in life beyond their accomplishments
· how to navigate the sisterhood of women, to build collaboration rather than competition
· how to heal from past hurts, rejection, and life’s inevitable storms
· and much more

The Woman Code is a way of living, of navigating life’s challenges, and of interacting positively with other women. It’s a way of pursuing our dreams and our deepest desires. It reveals a universal and timeless set of principles of the mind, body, and spirit that help women balance the demands of work, home, family, and friendship. The Woman Code not only calls on women to practice purpose in their lives, it shows them how to do it with grace.

Sophia Nelson believes that everything women need to lead the lives they want is already inside there inside sort of locked away. Ms. Nelson has twenty keys to unlock all that inner potential. The book is divided into 5 sections: The Personal Codes, The Emotional Codes, The Spiritual Codes, The Professional Codes and The Relational Codes. Each section contains four of each code. At the back of the book there is a study guide to be used with a small group or individually. I think this is a great resource for all women and would be a great gift for friends and family.
