Tracy L. Higley in her new book Awakening book cover“Awakening” published by Stonewater Press takes us into the life of  Kallie Andreas.

From the back cover:  Kallie Andreas is a mystery, even to herself.

Seven years ago Kallie woke up in a New York City museum, injured and traumatized. Alone and unclaimed.

Despite her shattered memories, she’s worked her way into a position as assistant curator in that very museum, and now she wants nothing more than to pursue funding for her project–assembling pieces from the ancient Minoans.

But then the blackouts start. Lost time, stranded in terrifying danger, frantic visions that can’t be real. A threatening phone call may be nothing more than paranoia and madness. Or perhaps not.

It’s time to start seeing her psychiatrist more often.

Kallie’s doctor challenges her to keep a journal, but her writing morphs into something else… What begins as a romantic fairy tale becomes an allegory of a woman plunged into crisis in the ancient past, in the misty islands of Minoan Greece, home to myth and legend.

When a mysterious billionaire invites Kallie to scour the black market with him for the most valuable of all Minoan treasures, the key to their lost language, Kallie can’t resist. Dimitri is wealthy, charming and good-looking, but she’s not interested–not in someone who’s clearly hiding secrets of his own.

Together, the two embark on a global quest to find the Key, through some of the most exotic and beautiful locations in the world–unraveling the mystery and pursuing leads, all the while resisting romance in Italy, under the Santorini sun, and among the pyramids of Egypt.

Meanwhile, Kallie’s memories are bleeding through and her journal has turned violent. She’s teetering on the verge of a breakthrough, but what devastating truth has she been suppressing?

When a strange woman who clearly knows Kallie’s real identity tries to murder her, it’s clear that Kallie’s past and present worlds are colliding, in a deadly crisis that will finally reveal the shocking mystery of her past.

But will the truth leave room for love?

It is a shame that the great director Alfred Hitchcock died. He would be the perfect person to direct this movie. But then you would need Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman to play the major roles because these are tremendous characters. Kallie only has memories from seven years ago. That leaves her wide open for danger and it comes calling. So does adventure. Dimitri is wealthy and an explorer that seems to know more about Kallie than he lets on. Now they are traveling the world looking for a Key artifact and answers. Tracy Higley has truly given us a winner with “Awakening”.  Get ready there are politics, escapes, liaisons, schemes and conniving that will make your head spin.  And the characters.  Ms. Higley has given us great characters who live and breathe on the pages and draw us into their lives so that we root for the good guys and do not want the bad guys to win.  “Awakening” is great fun.  It is history, a thriller, adventure and a romance all rolled up in an extremely entertaining ball.

Beth Moran in her new book, “Making Marion book coverMaking Marion” published by Lion Fiction introduces us to Marion Miller.

From the back cover:   Where’s Robin Hood When You Need Him?

Marion Miller comes to Sherwood Forest to discover her father’s mysterious past. She had been looking for somewhere to stay, but instead Marion Miller finds herself on the wrong side of the reception desk at the Peace and Pigs campground and, despite her horrible shyness, promptly lands herself a job working for the big-hearted and irrepressible Scarlet..

Life on a busy campground challenges Marion’s formerly controlled life–the pigs roam free, the resident chickens seem determined to thwart her, and an unfortunate incident with a runaway bike throws her into the arms of the beautiful, but deeply unimpressed, Reuben.

Can Marion discover her father’s secret> and will she find peace, and perhaps even love, among the pigs?

This is really a nice romance. Marion is a shy person that circumstances keeps putting in the forefront which gives us some funny moments. Ms. Moran has given us a story about coming out of your shell, of becoming the person that God designed you to be, of being at peace with yourself. It is also a really lovely romance. And, of course, if you are any kind of fan of Robin Hood then you are just going to enjoy this story.

Jan Watson in her new book “Buttermilk Sky book coverButtermilk Sky” published by Tyndale House Publishers introduces us to Mazy Pelfrey.

From the back cover:  Weary of the expectations imposed on her by her strict upbringing, eighteen-year-old Mazy Pelfrey prepares to leave her home in the Kentucky mountains for the genteel city of Lexington, where she’ll attend secretarial school. She knows her life is about to change—and only for the better. Everything will be blue skies from now on.

But business school is harder than she thought it would be and the big city not as friendly, until she meets a charming young man from a wealthy family, Loyal Chambers. When Loyal sets his sights on her, Mazy begins to see that everything she’d ever wished to have is right before her eyes. The only hindrance to her budding romance is a former beau, Chanis Clay, the young sheriff she thought she’d left firmly behind.

Danger rumbles like thunder on a high mountain ridge when Mazy’s cosseted past collides with her clouded future and forces her to come to terms with what she really wants.

They say the grass is always greener on the other side. Mazy decides the life she has at home is way too constricting for her and sets off to learn business. However it isn’t quite what she expected until she meets Loyal and thinks she fell in love. However she did leave the boy at home behind, or so she thought, because Chanis comes after her. Now what is she to do? Ms. Cote has given us a very exciting story filled with high drama.  She has also given us plenty to think about: the struggles of growing up, dangers of romance, dealing with peer pressure and coming into your own and how God has to work through individual problems so that each can heal and move into destiny. Great stuff. I am so looking forward to more from this very talented author.
