J. A. Marx in her new book, “Destiny Defied book coverDestiny Defied” Book One in the Destiny series published by Marx & Marx introduces us to Riki.

From the Back Cover:   “If you exist, save me…”

Trapped on a mysterious island, eighteen-year-oldRiki finds refuge with four strangers. Isaac, the rugged EMT, insists no one else is around, butRiki cannot ignore her fear that someone is stalking her. Unless she finds a power truly great enough to overthrow Darkness,Riki will choose death over returning to captivity.Lord Vétis, high priest of a cultic underground, will stop at nothing to reclaim the chosen one, but he must do so before her introduction to the real world ruins her royal destiny. Using black magic, he manipulates Riki and her self-assigned bodyguards, triggering a battle that consumes the entire island.

The underground will never allow Riki to live out her dreams of a normal life . . . something she has never known.

Action, mystery and adventure are just part of the ingredients of “Destiny Defied”. The big theme of this tightly woven adventure is Spiritual warfare. I think the title spells out what the book is all about the best, “Destiny Defied”. We all have a destiny, God has put us here for His purpose. The reason why some individuals never fulfill their purpose is the enemy that wants them to fail succeeds in his plans. We are all defied and we need each other if we are to move forward to embrace our destiny. Riki could never have made it if it were not for the four young men that happened to be on a deserted island.  And this is where the battle for Riki takes place. This is one very exciting book that captures your attention and keeps you flipping pages as fast as you can read them. Ms. Marx has given us great characters in Riki and the boys that are marvelous, meticulously crafted, and each one literally breathes on the pages. We can identify with them and root for them to succeed. I am so looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series.
