Peter Swanson in his new book, “girl clock heart book coverThe Girl with a Clock for a Heart” published by William Morrow introduces us to George Foss.

From the back cover:  George Foss has passed the age when he thinks he might fall madly in love or have anything truly remarkable happen to him. He spends evenings at his local tavern talking about the Red Sox and obsessing over a lost love from his college days who vanished twenty years earlier. Until she reappears.

George has both dreamed of and dreaded seeing Liana Decter again. She’s an enigma and quite possibly someone who was involved in a murder years ago. But she’s back—and needs his help. She says that some men are after her and that they believe she’s stolen their money. And now they will do whatever it takes to get it back.

George can’t say no—he never could—and soon his life is gone as he is pulled into a terrifying whirlpool of lies and betrayal, from which there is no sure escape.

Honestly I wasn’t sure if this book was going to be a winner when I first started it. I mean really, George Foss is a wimp failure that life is passing by. That is until Liana re-enters his life after a twenty year absence. Now, all of a sudden, his life takes off as he enters her dark world and risks his life trying to help her. Get ready for a thriller that moves along at a brisk rate that has plenty of action, romance and loads of atmosphere.  “The Girl with a Clock for a Heart” is loaded with twists and turns and red herrings that will leave you guessing all the while you are flipping pages to find out what happens next. Mr. Swanson has provided us with a very clever exciting book.
