Lauraine Snelling in her new book, “To Everything a Season book coverTo Everything a Season” Book One in the Song of Blessing series published by Bethany House brings us into the life of Miriam Hastings.

From the back cover:   Beloved Author Lauraine Snelling Returns Again to Her Popular Red River Valley Setting

Trygve Knutson is devoted to his family and his community. With his job on the construction crew, he is helping to build a future for the North Dakota town of Blessing. Though he loves his home, he sometimes dreams of other horizons–especially since meeting Miriam Hastings.

Miriam is in Blessing to get practical training to become an accredited nurse. She’s been promised a position in the Chicago women’s hospital that will enable her to support her siblings and her ailing mother. Although eager to return to her family, Miriam is surprised to find how much she enjoys the small town of Blessing. And her growing attachment to Trygve soon has her questioning a future she always considered set in stone.

When a family emergency calls Miriam home sooner than planned, will she find a way to return? If not, will it mean losing Trygve–and her chance at love–for good?

I think that Lauraine Snelling is an exceptionally talented author. Ms. Snelling has created the most incredible characters in the Bjorklund family. Not only do they seem so real they very quickly become our fast friends and are individuals that we enjoy hanging out with. Having said that it is marvelous to be back in Blessing and among these people again. The town is expanding and new people are coming in and, it seems, it is difficult to assimilate them into the community which is something new. And Ms. Snelling has given us the new character of Miriam Hastings. Miriam is a joy and she looks like she will fit right in however there are issues that will carry over to the next book. Ms. Snelling is such a wonderful writer that we easily get caught up in everyone’s life and we wish that we had these kind of people for our neighbors.  There are no car chases, nothing blows up however “To Everything a Season” is exciting, interesting and will keep you flipping pages as these characters work to deal with their new set of circumstances.  I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next offering in this series from the very talented Lauraine Snelling.
