Ann H. Gabhart in her new book, “Innocent book coverThe Innocent” published by Revell brings us into the life of Carlyn Kearney.

From the Back Cover:   She longs for peace–for her land and her heart–but can it truly be found at Harmony Hill?

Carlyn Kearney has spent two lonely years not knowing whether to mourn or to hope after she receives word from the Union Army that her husband is missing. When the war ends without further word, Carlyn finds herself penniless, in debt, and forced from her home. With nowhere else to go, she seeks refuge at the Shaker village of Harmony Hill.

The Shakers profess peace through simple living, but to Carlyn, the Shaker life seems anything but simple. When mysterious deaths disturb the peace of the village, Carlyn falls under intense scrutiny. Can a kind sheriff help her expose the true culprit?

Bestselling author Ann H. Gabhart invites fans back to Harmony Hill for a story laced with intrigue, romance, and heart.

1865 and the nation is just starting to heal from The Civil War.  Carlyn Kearney has no idea if her husband is going to come home. She is forced to take refuge in the Shaker community in Harmony. However she finds that the village does not quite live up to its name. “The Innocent” is full of great emotion, of triumph and tragedy and people banding together to be there for one another. There is even a bit of a  murder mystery. Ms. Gabhart has written a wonderful story. Carlyn and Mitchell are such wonderful characters that we come to know and love as we read through the book.  Ms. Gabhart does a great job of making us feel that we are there in Harmony and living the events rather than just reading about them.  I am always happy to return to Harmony and I am sure you will enjoy your visit.
