MaryLu Tyndall in her new book, “reckoning book coverThe Reckoning” Book Five in the Legacy of the King’s Pirates series published by Ransom Press introduces us to Morgan Shaw.

From the back cover:  When Morgan Shaw crept into the hold of an old pirate ship replica at San Diego’s Annual Tall Ship Festival, her only intention was to avoid the guy who had just dumped her and who was now boarding the ship with two women on his arm. What she didn’t expect was to wake up aboard a real pirate ship three-hundred years in the past. But of course, it wasn’t real. Her wealthy father had obviously staged it all in an effort to get her mind off her upcoming chemo. Or had he?

Pirate Rowan Dutton seeks enough treasure to repay a debt to his sister and reinstate the Dutton name among British Jamaican Society. He is but one major haul away from accomplishing his goal when a strange woman appears on his ship and causes him to lose his prey. Despite his anger, he is enthralled with the little minx, her strange clothing, odd speech, and her insistence that they are all actors playing a charade paid for by her father.

Yet when the brazen little lady divulges Rowan’s secret to a longtime nemesis, events are triggered that could cost them both their lives and change the course of history forever.

Let me start off by saying that I believe that “The Reckoning” is the best book, so far, from the pen of MaryLu Tyndall. This is the first book that has ever offered us time travel. At first I was a little hesitant. I wasn’t sure that time travel would play well with pirates. I worried for nothing. It plays great with pirates! All of the elements of high adventure are here:  on land, on the sea there is action, adventure, suspense, swordplay as well as bravery and honor. Now there is a 21st Century woman, Morgan, back in time to 1694 on board Captain Dutton’s The Reckoning. Only she doesn’t believe it. That is where all the fun comes in. Then just to make it more interesting Ms. Tyndall gave us a romance.  The highlight of this book is faith. It is Morgan, and her belief in God, that will keep them both alive so that God can fulfill His purpose. There is a lot going on in “The Reckoning” which is good because it keeps you interested and flipping pages as fast as you can read. Don’t start this book late at night because it will be very difficult to put it down or stop thinking about it.  I recommend this book highly and am greatly looking forward to the next book from this highly talented author.
