Denzil Meyrick in his new book, “The Last Witness” Book Two in A Detective Daley Thriller published by Pegasus Books LLC gives us another adventure with Detective Chief Inspector Jim Daley.
From the back cover: James Machie was a man with a genius for violence, his criminal empire spreading beyond Glasgow into the UK and mainland Europe. Fortunately, James Machie is dead, assassinated in the back of a prison ambulance following his trial and conviction.
But now, five years later, he is apparently back from the grave, set on avenging himself on those who brought him down. Top of his list is his previous associate, Frank MacDougall, who unbeknownst to D.C.I. Jim Daley, is living under protection on his lochside patch, the small Scottish town of Kinloch. Daley knows that, having been the key to Machie’s conviction, his old friend and colleague D.S. Scott is almost as big a target.
And nothing, not even death, has ever stood in James Machie’s way .
Welcome to another adventure with Detective Chief Inspector Jim Daley. This time it looks as if he is up against a criminal genius who seems to be avenging himself on those from his trial. There is only one problem he has been dead for five years. I think this is one of the most fascinating and clever mystery thrillers ever! And, of course, D.C.I. Jim Daley is just an exceptional character that we get involved with as he tries to bring his detective skill against a criminal genius. I recommend that you start early, turn off the phone, hit the bathroom and make a big bowl of popcorn. From experience once you get started you are not going to want to be interrupted. Mr. Meyrick has set it up so that you are captured from the first page and he doesn’t let go until the last. I am already looking forward to more from this talented author.

Sarah Parshall Perry in her new book, “Mommy Needs a Raise” published by Revell gives us (Because Quitting’s Not an Option).
From the Back Cover: Um, excuse me, but . . . do these children come with dental?
Sarah Parshall Perry knew that raising kids would be different from climbing the corporate ladder. But she wasn’t ready for just how different. Wasn’t a job just a job? And what was that on her shirt? Sarah left the corporate world with a plan to win at mothering and was downright blindsided. Nothing went as planned, everything was foreign, and her bosses didn’t always understand her value to the organization.
With her signature wit, lawyer-turned-stay-at-home-mommy Sarah says what all of us are thinking when we trade annual reports for homework help and sleepless nights. Sarah invites you to laugh alongside her in the “Are you kidding me?!” moments that come with the job of growing people. Crossing the divide between “employee” and “mother” is hard. But thankfully, it’s also hilarious.
This book isn’t just her story. It’s your story. The story of every mother who gives up one thing to get something better–and ends up finding out what she’s worth along the way.

Rhonda Stoppe in her new book, “If My Husband Would Change, I’d Be Happy” published by Harvest House gives us And Other Myths Wives Believe
From the back cover: Like most brides on their wedding day, you no doubt were filled with love for your husband and the hope of a happy life together. But perhaps today, as the realities of life together have settled in, those happy expectations are going unfulfilled. And it’s tempting to think, “If only my husband would change, I’d be happy.”
That myth is but one of many that Rhonda Stoppe dispels in her easy-to-read exploration of what it takes to experience a truly happy marriage. In the process, she addresses such important topics as
- understanding your husband’s need for your unconditional respect
- rekindling the love that drew you to your husband in the first place
- refusing to believe the lie that you’d be happier married to someone else
- learning to be content in the midst of financial struggles
- thinking about sex from a biblical worldview
If you desire to rekindle the love and hope you felt on your wedding day, this book will go a long way toward making that dream come true.
Contains discussion questions and personal reflections at the end of each chapter.
Ladies, it is official what you brought to the wedding were all kinds of stories that he could not possibly live up to. Honestly there is so much men have to live up to that having a whole bunch of myths operating against certainly is not going to help. Rhonda Stoppe examines twelve myths that women bring into the marriage. At the close of each chapter her husband, Steve, has written a section called “From a Husband’s Perspective.” As you read what he says, you will not only glean a man’s perspective, but also insights from the many years of Biblical counseling he has done with husbands and wives. At the end of each chapter you will find two sections called, “Thinking It Through” and “Living It Out.” These will allow you to study and apply the truths you’ve learned. Are you married? No matter how good, or bad, your marriage is this book will make it better. Thinking of getting married? This book will give you new thoughts. Know others that are married? This book can help them too. No matter where you are in life I believe this book would be beneficial for any stage of marriage you are at. Everyone should have this book.
